Spring Ahead!

All winter long I have to tell myself that Summer is close, even though it is miles and miles away. I love when it starts to get warm out and the sun melts all the snow. But then Mother Nature has to rain on our parade. Or snow, rather. This is the kind of event that makes me want to pack up and head south. Like last week for instance. I was POSITIVE that Spring was on its way and then BAM. Look at it outside today. I woke up and wanted to cry untill the cows came home.
But soon, I'm sure, it will get a little sunnier and warmer each day, and the snow will melt. Then we will come to the gross part of the year where mud is in a wild abundance. No need to go to the ice cream store because you can go outside and scoop up a nice cup of slush out of the lake on your front lawn that seems like its going to last until next Christmas.
For these reasons and many more, I HATE Spring. I am looking forward to March 13th, which is the date of when we set the clocks ahead. This is when it hits me that Summer is speeding closer and closer. This is when I start to go through all my Summer clothes and long to wear them in the blistering heat. This is when I prepare to get my tan on by going and buying the necessary products of summer:
  • Tanning lotion
  • New bikini
  • AVIATORS
  • Activities to keep you occupied while tanning (magazines, books etc.)
  • Flippy flops
  • '88-'89 Shamrock Christmas Champions Trucker Hat
So basically, I HATE Spring for delaying Summer.

School "Politics"...

Personally, I think that the co-prez elections are useless and a waste of time. Most years, nothing changes. Although, I do give credit to Jake Brenneman. He stuck to a lot of the stuff he said he would (for example, the composters) and they actually help the school and the environment.
This year, it just seems like the candidates are just in it for the fun and competition. None of the candidates have any sort of foundation to build off of to help make the school a better place, and if they do, they did a very poor job of showing it because I didn't catch on. It seems that most of their energy was put into their t-shirts, posters, slogans, and their lunch activities, which shows that they are only in it for the fun and not to become a leader of W-O.
I guess it all depends on who is running for co-prez but a lot of the time, with some exceptions, I think its a waste of time, money and energy.

I love you?...

Dear Mr. Mickey Mouse,
It's your "beloved" Minnie here, and I bet your wondering why all of my stuff is packed and gone out of our den and I am nowhere to be found. Well it's because I don't love you. Never have. Never will. You kind of make me feel sick every time I see your face or hear your unearthly squeal that you call a laugh.
You see, love is a fictional myth, Mickey, and it's hard for me to stick around with you always telling me that you fricken love me! So don't! Because you dont love me, and if you did, I wouldn't love you back. I'm sure you will find some other hussy mouse to tell that you love them and LIE, but not me, no sir! I'm smarter than that! I know that all you male mice just love to lie to us lady mice. Well, let me tell you, I have had just about enough of you and your "LOVE".

Good-bye Mickey, you waste of space.

Sincerely,
Minnie Mouse

SUMMER

Summer season brings
Colors to the face of earth
As season's birds sings

Summer season is
Warmest of all the seasons
Weaving dreams of bliss

Season of summer
Fills heart and soul with laughter
Like blooming flower

Summer brings shimmer
By benevolence of nature
In beams of glimmer

Summer's arrival
Signals fun and festivals
And soul's revival

Summer is warmer
Shining brighter is the sun
Solace is water

Summer's diverse sounds
Is the nature's symphony
Without doubt astounds

Summer is the best
To feel the comfort of breeze
Which needs no attest

Summer is the peak
For the soul of sun to shine
And it is unique

Summer is for fun
Soaking in sweat and water
And is never done

Summer holidays
Sprinkles delight everywhere
In so many ways

Summer is the time
To think of spring and autumn
As it is sublime

I searched through a number of poems about summer, simply because of the giant snow storm that is to occur which makes me want to crawl into bed and cry. However, none of the other poems seemed to capture the true feelings and such that summer brings! Just reading the poem makes me want summer to come even more! It makes me think of previous summers that I've had and brings up little memories. I also like how the stanzas are 3 lines long and the first line and the last line in every stanza rhymes. I hope this poem warms you guys up a bit! :)
